People often ask me what I do as a Spiritual Director. They think I just sit around and talk about God. Well, sort of but it's so much more than that. Considering that I think God is the Universal Being of Unconditional Love, and dwells within each of us, I do believe God is a part of our everyday lives. But we don't always recognize that. Much of the time we are asleep, or our eyes are closed, to that reality.
What we do in Spiritual Direction is talk about LIFE. What's going on in your life and how can I help you move forward towards a place of consolation and away from desolation?
Spirituality is not religion. It is a path for us to generate happiness, understanding, and love, so we can live deeply each moment of our life. Having a spiritual dimension in our lives does not mean escaping life or dwelling in a place of bliss outside of this world, but discovering ways to handle life's difficulties and generate peace, joy and happiness right where we are on this beautiful Planet.

Spirituality and spiritual practices (including Spiritual Direction) help you to see the inherent divine within yourself and others, allowing you to live from your sacred center, as opposed to your False Self (the ego).
Life doesn't unfold according to our plans. Spiritual practices help us to navigate life in a way that aligns with the divine center within us, allowing us to SEE God's presence in our lives. Sometimes we need a guide to help us see, help us decipher where God is working in our lives. That is what Spiritual Direction does.
